SGI warns of greater chance of accidents during holiday weekend

SGI has issued a warning to motorists this August long weekend.

SGI’s Tyler McMurchy says the chances of being involved in an accident double during a long weekend.

He says over the last five years, the province has averaged 211 collisions during the August long weekend.

He advises motorists to slow down, follow the speed limits, and do not drive impaired by drugs or alcohol.

He is also asking motorists to slow down in work zones and avoid distracted driving.
