Golf-a-Thon fundraiser coming to Regina Beach Golf Club in August

A unique golf tournament to raise money for Lumsden and area KidSport is coming to the Regina Beach Golf Club.

Rounds for Ralph is a Golf-a-Thon with 12 hour and six hour options. It will be held on August 21

Organizer Kaia Thauberger says it’s a fun way to hold a tournament and raise money for a good cause.

“Instead of golfing a set amount of holes, you get a set amount of time,” Thauberger said. “(In that time) you golf as many holes as possible.”

Thauberger describes how she came up with the idea.

“I was originally trying to plan this golf tournament during COVID, and I was looking at ways to have as little as possible people on the golf course,” Thauberger said. “In my searching, I stumbled across this Golf-a-Thon that they do in the States a lot, and I though it would be a fun event to bring up here.”

The tournament was named after Kaia’s late grandfather Ralph Thauberger, who passed away age 39 from cancer. According to Kaia, Ralph was on the local school board and was also heavily involved in local kids sports programs such as KidSport. People wanting to register can do so by visiting the Rounds for Ralph Facebook page.
