Regina woman facing murder charges in connection with death of two-year-old last month

Regina police say an incident last month where a two-year-old girl died after suffering some serious injuries when she reportedly  fell down some stairs at a home on the 2300 block of Retallack Street is now being treated as a murder.

26-year-old Brittney Catherine Emma Burghardt is facing a charge of second-degree murder while 24-year-old Justin Noah Paul Anderson is charged with accessory after the fact to murder.  Both have also been charged with forcible confinement.

The pair made their first court appearances Thursday morning.

This is the seventh homicide in Regina this year.
