RCMP considers deaths of men found near Good Spirit Lake to be homicides

The Saskatchewan RCMP says two men who were found dead in a vehicle on Monday near Good Spirit Lake were murdered.

The RCMP shared in a statement on Thursday that the two individuals have been identified as 29-year-old Bryton Lawrason and 20-year-old Seth Hildebrand, both from Edmonton. Police say their families have been notified.

“Both deaths are considered homicides and cause of death will not be released as the information is part of the ongoing investigation,” stated RCMP in the release. “To be clear, this is not a homicide-suicide investigation.”

An autopsy has been completed on both victims by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.

RCMP were called shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Monday to investigate a suspicious vehicle parked along Tiny Grid Road near the Burgis Beach turnoff. The two bodies were located inside an orange-coloured 2013 Dodge Journey SUV.

Investigators are now seeking information from the public about the activities of the orange-coloured SUV and any information on the individuals’ whereabouts on July 5 or in the days immediately prior. Police say the vehicle was known to be in the areas of Burgis Beach, Good Spirit Lake, the community of Canora and city of Yorkton on Monday.

RCMP say any information can be reported to their local police detachment or Crime Stoppers.
