Man dead after RCMP involved shooting on Gordon First Nation

A man is dead after RCMP were forced to shoot him on the Gordon First Nation after he was making threats while armed with a rifle Tuesday afternoon.

Punnichy RCMP were called to the Gordon First Nation around 2:15 p.m..

In a news release police say during the course of the events the man was shot by officers and injured, police performed life saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead by EMS upon their arrival.

The Saskatchewan RCMP have requested an independent external police investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

The Weyburn Police Service will be conducting that investigation.

Support Services are currently being organized for the family of the deceased and police officers involved.

The name and age of the deceased man was not made public.
