Active cases up as Sask. announces new COVID-19 death

Saskatchewan has reached 570 deaths from people who tested positive for COVID-19.

The provincial government shared on Wednesday that one new death has been reported. The resident was in the 40 to 49 age group from the North West zone.

There are also 53 new cases and 40 more recoveries in the province, increasing the active case count slightly to 319. New cases were reported in the Far North West (5), Far North East (3), North West (1), North Central (5), Saskatoon (6), Central West (3), Regina (13) and South West (10).

Hospitalizations are at 64 with 54 people receiving inpatient care and 10 people in ICUs.

An additional 13,719 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,247,253.
