Central Butte man missing after jumping into Lake Diefenbaker to help kids

A 36-year-old man from Central Butte is missing after jumping into Lake Diefenbaker on Canada Day to help some children who were having some distress while swimming

Saskatchewan RCMP say they responded around 11 a.m. to hear of the man who had been in a boat and jumped out to help the kids.  The children were put on the boat, but the man didn’t resurface. A search for him continues.

That was not the only incident on Lake Diefenbaker that RCMP had to deal with. Around 3 o’clock, they say they responded to a report of a woman who was having difficulty in the water while swimming. Upon arrival, the 22-year-old was out of the water and being treated by EMS. She was sent to a Regina hospital by STARS air ambulance. Her condition is not known
