Regina police investigating robbery where victim was shot

Investigators with the Regina Police Service are asking the public to come forward with any information that can assist them with their investigation into a robbery on Wednesday morning.

According to a release from RPS, police identified the location of a potential assault while responding to a call between 12:30 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The location was an alley between the 2900 blocks of Montague Street and Elphinstone Street.

The investigation led officers to a home on the 2900 block of Elphinstone Street where they entered the residence and found an injured 34-year-old man. He sustained what police say appeared to be a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police learned that suspects had approached the man and attempted to take his belongings. The suspects assaulted him when he tried to leave the situation and an altercation ensued between the victim and suspects.

RPS says it is believed the victim suffered a gunshot injury during the altercation. The suspects then fled the scene.
