Universities working with First Nation near Brandon hoping to identify children buried at former residential school

Canadian universities are working with the Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation to identify names of more than 100 children buried at a former residential school site near Brandon Manitoba.

The bodies were first discovered in 2012, and only 78 can be identified through burial records.

The groups involved in the search hope to use archival research and new technology to identify the remains.

The Brandon residential school operated from 1895 to 1972, and was demolished in 2000.
