Regina woman in custody after poisoning toddler

A Regina woman is in custody after an investigation into the aggravated assault of a toddler who came to be poisoned with ethanol and antihistamine.

On May 11th, just before 8:00 pm, police responded to assist EMS on a call of a 21-month old toddler who was not breathing on the 100 block of Broad Street.

Police gathered statements from two adults who were present at the time of the incident, as well as the child’s parents who arrived after police.

After transporting the child to hospital, it was discovered they were suffering from acute ethanol poisoning. Further investigation led to the arrest of a woman who is not the child’s mother on June 9th.

29-year-old Jessica Fehr has been charged with aggravated assault (endangering the life of the victim) and administering noxious substances (alcohol and Benadryl).

Fehr made his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
