Two people charged in Monday night armed robbery in north central

Regina Police have charged two people in connection to an attempted robbery that took place in a back alley between Rae and Retallack Streets in the north central area.

Officers were following up on an unrelated file Monday night — just after 9:30 — when they spotted three people in a back alley, with one man appearing to hold a firearm.

Two suspects fled the scene when police shouted to the group, and one person — who was later confirmed to be a victim of an attempted robbery — approached officers.

The suspects were located a short distance away with the assistance of the canine unit and other patrol members.

29-year-old Christopher Chief and 27-year-old Britney Klyne are jointly charged with armed robbery using a firearm. Chief also faces breach of release and unauthorized possession of a firearm charges, while Klyne is also charged with breach of probation and possession of ammunition.

Both Chief and Klyne appeared in court Tuesday morning.
