River and Rail ArtVenture to feature work from west central creators in self guided tour

Those looking to explore Saskatchewan will want to mark June 26th and 27th on their calendar.

The west central arts community is hosting a self guided tour called the River and Rail ArtVenture that weekend, it covers 280 kilometres and 26 venues in ten different communities.

Co-organizer Janet Akre, said a wide variety of artists will have their work on display and be their to answer questions.

“We’ve got quite a few that are painters, we’ve got potters, we have a variety of fabric arts as well, everything from alpaca to quilts, we also have a winery on the tour,” Akre said.

Akre says there is even a live apiary on the tour.

She recommends taking two days if you want to see everything.

Co-organizer and participant Susan Robertson said the amount of  creators in west central Saskatchewan is substantial, and they’re happy with the response.

“So we’ve tried to encompass all of the arts in the community, it was really good to see such a wonderful response from all the creators in the area.”

Maps, biographies, and suggested routes can be found on www.riverandrailartventure.ca.
