Safety initiative around Harbour Landing schools see hundreds of risky driving incidents

From speeding to U-turns, CAA Saskatchewan’s school zone safety initiative at 2 Regina schools resulted in hundreds of risky behaviours in the span of 2 hours.

The assessment happened this past Wednesday at St. Kateri and École Harbour Landing between 8 and 9:15 am, and after school from 3 to 4 pm

Vanora Gagnier with CAA Sask says this is a higher number than typical.

“It’s just to bring awareness and education around the number of risky behaviours that do occur at a school, either by pedestrians or by drivers,” said Gagnier.

Speeding was the number one vehicle infraction reported with 292 times a vehicle went over the school zone speed limit.
