Police lay assault, firearm charges on Regina man

The Regina Police Service has charged a 22-year-old man after an assault call over the weekend resulted in assault, firearm and stolen property charges.

Thomas Kaiswatum of Regina faces eight charges in total including assault and two counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

RPS received a call on Sunday around 8:45 p.m. of an assault in progress in the area of Victoria Avenue and Ottawa Street. Police learned a man was physically assaulting a woman.

Officers located Kaiswatum and the woman on 14th Avenue and Toronto Street where he was arrested. Police also found a gun, ammunition and stolen property on him.

Kaiswatum made his first court appearance Monday morning.
