Construction project on Albert Street starts Tuesday

The City, in cooperation with the Provincial Capital Commission, will begin a project on Tuesday to expand and upgrade the sidewalk on the east side of Albert Street between 23rd Avenue and Regina Avenue into a multi-use pathway.

This is an important improvement to the City’s cycling infrastructure that helps connect residents in south Regina to Downtown and Wascana Centre. Widening the sidewalk will allow both pedestrians and cyclists to safely travel on a busy portion of Albert Street. The multi-use pathway aligns with the City’s Transportation Master Plan by investing in active transportation, healthier communities and connected pathways.

Drivers may want to consider alternate routes as crews begin working at Regina Avenue and progress south toward 23rd Avenue in three phases. Throughout the project, northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane and in some cases, both directions restricted to one lane.

This project is anticipated to be complete by early September, pending weather or unforeseen circumstances.
