Student arrested after weapons call at Regina high school ends peacefully

The Regina Police Service says a weapons call Wednesday morning at Winston Knoll Collegiate has reached a peaceful conclusion.

RPS were notified of the situation at 10:40 a.m. after a report that a student in the school had shown someone what looked like a gun tucked into the waistband of the student’s pants.

A school lockdown had already been activated by the time police and school resource officers arrived. According to RPS, officers brought the female student safely into custody and seized the firearm from the girl. Police say the gun was found to be a realistic-looking CO2 pellet gun.

The student faces a charge of carrying a concealed weapon as a result of the investigation into this incident. She is expected to appear in youth court Thursday morning.
