SaskPower says nearly 57,000 customers affected by ice storms last week

SaskPower crews continue to make repairs to secondary power lines while looking out for any additional downed infrastructure.

Scott McGregor with the provincial power company says just under 57,000 customers were affected by last Thursday’s ice storms that hit east and southeastern Saskatchewan.

He said at the height of the outage, 48 SaskPower workers and six Vegetation Management crews were in the Melville area, one of the hardest hit areas by the storm.

The number of workers there has since gone down because most customers have their power back, but if they don’t, they’re advised to call the Outage Centre at 310-2220.
