Yorkton under dangerous condition advisory

The City of Yorkton has issued a dangerous condition advisory due to the freezing rain that is downing trees and power lines.

According to the Saskatchewan Provincial Emergency Communications Centre, it’s in effect until Saturday at noon.

Mayor Mitch Hippsley is urging residents to stay away from downed power lines and trees as the lines and branches may fall without warning.

Meantime, SaskPower says crews are out trying to restore power that has been out across the Eastern and Southeastern parts of the province due to the freezing rain.

Crews continue to assess the damage and have not provided a timeline of when power would be restored at this time.
