Tickets issued after two people found inside Cloverdale fire evacuation perimeter

Prince Albert Police have issued tickets to two people who were found unlawfully inside the perimeter at the Cloverdale Fire. Tickets totalling $2,000 each were issued to a man and a woman.

The area along Highway 55, between Prince Albert and the Pulp Haul Road, has been evacuated due to the fast-moving fire. Residents have been evacuated and no one is being allowed to go back into the area for their safety and the safety of first responders working in the area.

The City of Prince Albert says that as of 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency was reporting the Cloverdale Fire as about 65 percent contained; although wind speeds and changing wind direction continue to make the situation challenging.

Cecil Ferry remains open 24 hours a day and Ministry of Highways has added extra staff to keep traffic moving.

Residents north of White Star Road are permitted to return to their homes. Highway road closures remain in effect. Please check highway hotline for updates.

A State of Emergency for the City of Prince Albert remains in effect. Evacuees are being reminded to register with the City of Prince Albert if they haven’t done so already either by calling 306-953-4816 or going directly to the Margo Fournier Centre at 1211 1st Avenue West.

The Margo Fournier Centre will be staffed again until 9:00pm tonight to register evacuees.
