Charges laid after counterfeit bills used at Regina business

Two men have been arrested and charged after counterfeit dollar bills were allegedly used on multiple occasions at a business in Regina’s Westerra neighborhood.

On Monday, staff reported two incidents where an individual used or attempted to use counterfeit $100 bills to pay for purchases, once on April 17, and again on May 3.

After investigating, 37-year-old Pierre Laferte from Regina, and 32-year-old Tyson Knutson of Grenfell, were arrested and charged with two counts of using a foreign document.

Laferte, was also charged with possession of stolen mail, possession of a scheduled substance and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

The two suspects made their first court appearances on Thursday.
