NDP calls for improvements to Agristability support program

The NDP is calling on the province to protect farmers from possible drought and improve the agristability support program.

Opposition critic Trent Wotherspoon says farm groups support increased compensation levels under agristability.

Highways minister Fred Bradshaw says the province is monitoring the moisture conditions.

Bradshaw says its too early to determine if regions will experience drought this year.

He says Crop insurance offers a wide range of products for farmers and encourages producers to consider crop insurance, agristability and livestock price insurance.

He says the enrollment deadline for agristability has been extended to June 30th.
