Bird strike results in Snowbirds plane making a landing

Emergency protocols had to be followed after a Canadian Forces Snowbirds plane suffered what is believed to be a bird strike on Monday morning.

Public affairs officer Captain Gabriel Ferris says the pilot did what was to be done and landed the aircraft safely.

It was nearly a year ago that a bird strike resulted in a plane crashing in Kamloops B.C taking the life of Captain Jennifer Casey and seriously injured pilot Captain Richard McDougall.

Monday’s incident happened in Comox, B.C where the team is holding its annual spring training.

The Snowbirds are based at 15 Wing Moose Jaw.
