SaskPower crews will be inspecting over 114 thousand wood power poles across the province this year.

Spokesperson Scott McGregor says they expect to replace over 3,500 of these poles.

“For damage, or for insect infestation, and so on,” said McGregor. “Wherever possible, we will be repairing the poles and reinforcing them to make sure that they are up and safe. When we can’t do that though, we will have to mark it for replacement.”

The estimated cost of this project is over 23 million dollars, including 10.5 million on pole replacement and reinforcement.
