NDP seeks stiffer penalties for those protesting public health orders

The NDP is calling for stiffer penalties for protesters against the public health orders in Saskatchewan.

Opposition critic Nicole Sarauer says organizers of the protests should face a fine of 10 thousand dollars, not 28 hundred dollars.

Justice minister Gordon Wyant says significant penalties are in place.

He says law enforcement is aware of the wide range of tools in Saskatchewan law and the criminal code to keep the public safe.

Wyant says he has faith in law enforcement to ensure the law is upheld.
