Airbnb operators in Regina must now have licence

Those in Regina looking at renting out their home to short-term visitors now need a licence.

The City, which created a bylaw calling for a licence in September of 2020, says those offering their home as accomodation for 30 days or less must pay $100 if it is their home or $300 for a separate residence.

The licence must be renewed on a yearly basis and the licence number must be on all rental listings for Airbnb, VRBO or other public places.

Licence holders must keep a record of guest activity including the number of nights the property was rented.

Those failing to get a licence will be fined $1,000 with licences being removed or suspended if an investigation finds infractions.

Licence applications can be made by going to the City of Regina’s website.
