Three more deaths, 262 new COVID-19 cases reported in Sask. Saturday, drive-thru immunization clinic re-opening in Regina Sunday

There were 262 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Saskatchewan on Saturday.

The province also announced 233 more recoveries, putting the active case count up to 2,452.

Sadly there were also three more deaths reported. One in the 40-49 age group in Regina, one in the 60-69 age group also in Regina, and one in the 70-79 age group from the Saskatoon zone.

The Regina zone again reported the most cases at 71, followed by Saskatoon at 49, and the South East zone with 28 rounding out the top three.

Currently there are 167 people in hospital across the province, 38 of those people are in intensive care, 21 of those 38 are in Regina.

An additional 7,403 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given, bringing the total to 435,142.

Eighty-one percent of residents over the age of 60 have received their first dose, 62 percent of those over the age of 40 have received their first dose, and 41 percent of people over the age of 18 have received their first dose.

DRIVE-THRU AND WALK-IN IMMUNIZATION CLINICS;

After a lengthy closure due to short supply, the COVID-19 drive-thru immunization clinic will be open on Sunday at Evraz Place in Regina.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority confirmed in a news release Friday afternoon, that the clinic will be open for those 40 and over from 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning to 11:30 p.m. Sunday night on a first come first served basis.

It will then be closed an re-open May 7th and 8th.

A walk-in clinic will also be open May 7th at the South Leisure Neighbourhood Centre.

Online vaccination appointments can be made for those 40 and older, in the Northern Saskatchewan Administration, those 30 and older are eligible to book online.

Front line workers such as teachers, police officers and firefighters are also now eligible to book online, regardless of age.
