First ever STARS radiothon launches Wednesday morning

You are going to be hearing a lot about STARS Air Ambulance over the next couple of days, as a two-day radiothon launches Wednesday on 28 stations across the province including 620 CKRM.

The event will be broadcast from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day, before it wraps up Thursday, and will be raising money to ensure the viability of the service.

Funds raised will go to purchasing two new cardiac monitors, as well as support for ongoing operations at both the Regina and Saskatoon base.

Spokesperson Geri-Lynne Johnston said it will be a chance for you to hear how important STARS is to Saskatchewan.

“We want to show more about our mission and hear more from our air medical team, which includes our pilots and air paramedics. And most importantly hear some of our patients survival stories, and how STARS impacted their lives,” Johnston said.

In the last year, STARS flew 884 missions in Saskatchewan.

Those wanting to donate can do so by calling 1-877-507-8277.
