NDP calls on Moe government to give COVID-19 vaccine priority to educators

The NDP is again calling on the Saskatchewan government to give Covid-19 vaccine priority to teachers.

Opposition critic Carla Beck says Regina schools have extended the temporary remote learning for another week for safety reasons.

She wants teachers to be a priority for vaccination.

Education minister Dustin Duncan says the health authority has found no evidence of large scale transmission in schools of Covid-19.

In fact, he says schools are the lowest setting for areas under study for contact tracing.

He adds 40 percent of staff in Regina schools are already eligible for vaccines.

Duncan says when the age limit reaches 48 years for vaccinations, teachers and in-class assistants will be added to the eligibility list.
