SaskParty government under fire over re-opening of schools during the pandemic

The NDP is again levelling sharp criticism at the SaskParty government over the re-opening of schools during the pandemic.

Education critic Carla Beck says there have been numerous coronavirus outbreaks this month in 37 schools across the province.

She says over 15 thousand people have been affected by such chaos.

Education minister Dustin Duncan says steps have been taken to ensure the schools are safe.

He adds 80 percent of schools are having daily classes, which means public health measures in schools are working and transmission of COVID-19 is extremely low.

Duncan adds 25 percent of teachers are eligible for vaccination and the number will rise swiftly over coming weeks.
