Three from Ontario facing charges after 4,000 pounds of illegal marijuana seized

RCMP say a highway traffic stop near Caronport this month resulted in 4,000 pounds of illegal marijuana being found inside a transport truck.

On April 7, a Highway Patrol member conducted a commercial vehicle safety inspection traffic stop with the officer determining that the driver was allegedly in possession of illegal marijuana.

While performing that stop, the officer noticed a second vehicle continously driving by the truck.  Moose Jaw RCMP were called with that vehicle eventually being stopped.  The driver and passenger were arrested after allegedly being in possession of what is called a significant amount of Canadian currency.

All three, who are from Brantford, Ontario and know one another , face multiple charges including unlawful possession of marijuana for the purpose of distribution and unlawful possession of more than 30 grams of dried marijuana.

The three, 40-year-old Malpreet Malhi, 21-year-old Ramandeep Singh and 23-year-old Mehakdeep Maan  appeared in Moose Jaw Provincial Court last Friday and will make another appearance on Wednesday.
