The government is reporting a record one-day high when it comes to vaccine delivery in Saskatchewan.

In its daily COVID-19 report, the government says 10,437 doses were handed out across the province.  Saskatoon had the most at 3,364 followed by Regina at 1,822 and the northeast zone at 1,444.

The news comes as the province announces that those 55 and over can go online or make a call Friday morning to make an appointment with the Regina drive-thru clinic offering Pfizer/Biotech vaccines for those 53 and over starting on Friday in the first-come, first-serve operation that has been in effect since the clinic at Evraz Place opened.

There are 205 new infections being reported.  Of the 205, Regina has 91 of them meaning 1,033 of the province’s 2,141 active cases are in this zone.

The other new cases are located in the Far North West (4), Far North Central (1), Far North East (4), North West (3), North Central (4), North East (5), Saskatoon (32), Central West (1), Central East (9), South West (6), South Central (21), and South East (23) zones.

There are two new deaths to report. One was reported in the 70-79 age group from the South East zone with the other being some aged 80 or over from the Saskatoon zone.

The number of those in hospital is 206 with 41 in the ICU.  82 people are in Regina hospitals receiving in-patient care and 25 are in the ICU.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 226.

As of April 8, 2,948 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan.  That is an increase of 130 from Wednesday.  The  VoC’s are in the Far North West (2), Far North East (4), North West (6), North Central (21), Saskatoon (189), Central West (12), Central East (64), Regina (2,107), South West (18), South Central (260), and South East (246) zones.
