Taser needed in Moose Jaw after man threatens police officer with shovel

Moose Jaw police had to use a taser early Wednesday morning to bring an individual under control.

Just after 1:30, they were called to a home on South Hill after receiving a report of a break and enter, When officers arrived, they found a man in the backyard who was allegedly armed with a shovel. Attempts to get the man to put the shovel down were unsuccessful and when he started to move towards them, the taser was deployed.

Richard Houghton made an appearance in a Moose Jaw courtroom this morning, He has been charged with break and enter, assault with a weapon, assaulting a police officer with a weapon and mischief under $5000.
