Mayor Fraser Tolmie is leaving the province to attend to a family matter.

The City of Moose Jaw released a statement on behalf of Tolmie, stating he will be attending to family matters in Ontario, as both of his parents are now in long-term care dealing with health issues unrelated to COVID-19.

Members of city council and administration are aware of the situation and are supportive of Tolmie during this time.

Tolmie completed his statement by saying he will be following all provincial health guidelines while traveling.

He did not provide a time frame for his return.
