Lowest mill rate increase since 2009 on the table as Regina City Council begins 2021 budget debate

The lowest mill rate increase the city has seen since 2009 is going to be discussed Wednesday afternoon by Regina City Council, as they begin debate on the 2021 operating budget.

A proposed increase of 2.34 percent is on the table, with 1.39 percent of that dedicated to the Regina Police Service, and .5 percent for Mosaic Stadium.

If the increase goes as proposed, that’s roughly $4.13 a month or $49.56 a year more on the tax bill of the average homeowner with an assessed property value of $315,000.

620 CKRM’s Josh Sigurdson will be covering the developments Wednesday afternoon and will have more later in the day.
