100,000 rapid tests heading to schools in Saskatchewan

The provincial government is sending out 100,000 rapid tests to schools across Saskatchewan.

The province is indicating that rapid testing could begin as early as this week.

Teachers and school staff will not be expected to administer the rapid tests. Instead, they can be administered by people who have completed a Saskatchewan Health Authority lab training program.

A positive case coming from a rapid test must require confirmation from a normal COVID-19 test provided by the SHA. A negative test would not need confirmation as long as the person did not present COVID-19 symptoms.
