The Better Business Bureau of Saskatchewan says Advance Fee loans were the most devastating scams in 2020.

CEO Karen Smith says online scams took the number two spot in 2020, with a large portion of them related to pets and pet supplies.

“That’s one that we’ve completed a deep dive on, pet scams in previous years,” said Smith. “All of our research on scams, and the prevention tips that you can use, are filed on our website, www.bbb.org.”

Scams found online and through social media were found to be the riskiest type of scams for Canadians according to BBB Saskatchewan.
