Charges laid in decade old fatal hit and run case

After a lengthy investigation, RCMP say a 32-year-old woman has been charged in relation to a fatal hit and run on the Montreal Lake First Nation in 2011.

On April 6th that year, police were called to a grid road where they found John Bird, who appeared to be the victim of a hit and run, he was pronounced deceased on the scene.

As a result of a long investigation police say Jody Roberts was arrested on Wednesday at a residence on the Montreal Lake First Nation.

Roberts was charged was charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident in relation to Bird’s death.

She appeared in court Thursday and will be back on April 1.
