Regina man facing weapons charges after early morning traffic stop

Early Friday morning, Regina Police pulled over a vehicle on the 1500 block of Garnet Street.

A man got out of the vehicle and began to walk away, he was detained by police.

Police identified the man, and it was discovered he did not have a valid driver’s license. A search of the man revealed firearm ammunition, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a loaded firearm.

The man was issued a SOTI for driving a license and arrested and charged.

33-year-old Martin Oochoo has been charged with the careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm knowing its unauthorized, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, and possession of a prohibited firearm obtained by crime.

Oochoo is set to make his first appearance in court on Friday afternoon.
