Cold snap brings rise in vehicle thefts around Regina

Regina Police say vehicle thefts have been on the rise in recent days.

Police say the reason vehicle thefts are on the rise is simply because keys are left in the ignition with running vehicles, as people try to warm them up during the recent cold snap.

During the month of February so far, half of the 28 vehicles reported stolen in the Queen City had the keys left inside them.

This week alone, RPS say that over 60 percent of stolen vehicles reported to them had keys left inside.
