Saskatchewan government expected to announce updated COVID-19 vaccination plan on Tuesday

Saskatchewan’s Premier hinted on Monday that some news will be announced Tuesday regarding COVID-19 vaccines in the province.

Scott Moe addressed the topic during his remarks at the 2021 Municipalities of Saskatchewan Virtual Convention saying it will discuss the province’s mass vaccination plan.

Moe said the plan will be aged based and have allowances for some groups to be prioritized.

“Age has been the largest factor, with respect to having poor outcomes when it comes to contracting COVID-19,” Moe said. “So you’ll see largely a plan that is based on peoples age as we receive COVID vaccines that will be given to the masses,” he added.

However, Moe mentioned that Saskatchewan is less than ten per cent into the phase one vaccination schedule, adding the province is a ways away still from mass vaccinations.

Last month Pfizer and BioNtec did not send any vaccination shipments to Canada, that caused a major slowdown of vaccinations nation wide.
