Residents show support for Saskatoon restaurant after racist attack on staff

Support for a Saskatoon restaurant has been overwhelming after a video showed a man hurling racist slurs towards staff.

The incident occurred at Mai’s Kitchen after staff asked two men to wear masks while not at their table.

The men claimed they had medical exemption and grew increasingly hostile. The video shows one of the men giving the middle finger to staff while blaming them for the coronavirus, and for them to “go back to China”.

The video has since gone viral, with many other restaurants condemning the actions.

According to several Facebook posts, the restaurant was slammed with orders Thursday night, so much that the restaurant couldn’t keep up with delivery orders.

Saskatoon Police are looking into the incident.
