Known to the many she inspired over the years as ‘Warrior D’, well known Saskatchewanian and Ontario native  Dionne Warner, has passed away at the age of 55.

Warner was self described as a nine time cancer survivor, she was first diagnosed back in 1995, when she was 30-years-old.

Over the years Warner battled and beat many cancers, including of the breast, brain, liver, lung and bone.

Many who were fighting their own battle with cancer became inspired by Warner’s courageous and positive approach to her situations.

One of those was her husband, who went through his own cancer diagnosis a few years ago.

Warner has been quoted saying “You have to live with no regrets. We don’t like to live in fear. We like to say there is life during, before and after cancer. It’s how you choose to live it.”

In April of 2020 Warner received news that all of the tumors she currently had, had shrunk.

However recently the cancer made a devastating return, and Warner opted for a medically assisted death on Monday in her home.

Throughout her many successful battles over the last 25 plus years, Warner was the recipient of multiple awards, including the YWCA Women of Distinction and American Cancer Society Hero of Hope awards. She also spent many hours volunteering at Regina’s Allan Blair Cancer Centre, working to inspire others who were battling cancer.
