WEATHER ALERT: Extreme Cold Warnings in effect for all but southern Sask. Monday morning

Extreme Cold Warnings remain in effect for all of Saskatchewan, other than the southern parts of the province Monday morning.

This includes Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Yorkton and the Battlefords, but does not include Regina and Moose Jaw.

Environment Canada says temperatures in the minus thirties along with winds of 10 to 15 km/h will produce extreme cold wind chills of minus 40 or colder.

Temperatures are expected to moderate slightly Monday morning. However, extreme cold will return for a third night to some areas this evening evening into Tuesday.

Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.

Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside as well.
