Eight new COVID-19 deaths in Sask., six from Regina zone

Saskatchewan is reporting eight new deaths due to COVID-19 complications on Friday along with 312 new cases and 203 more recoveries from the virus.

Six of Friday’s reported deaths are from the Regina zone with one in the 40-49 age group, two in the 60-69 group, one from the 70-79 category and two from the 80-plus age group. One death from a resident in the 60-69 age range is from Saskatoon and a death from the 80-plus group was reported from the Central East.

Friday’s new cases are found in Saskatoon (88), Regina, (47), Far North West (11), Far North Central (1), Far North East (14), North West (40), North Central (39), North East (20), Central West (7), Central East (14), South West (1), South Central (4) and South East (14) zones. 12 new cases have pending residence information.

Active cases are at 3,196 in Saskatchewan with the seven-day average of daily new cases at 275.

177 people are in hospital with 147 people receiving inpatient care and 30 people in intensive care. 1,448 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered on Thursday in the province, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in Saskatchewan to 31,275. As of Friday, 96 per cent of the doses received have been administered in Saskatchewan.

3,147 COVID-19 tests were processed in Saskatchewan on Thursday.
