Regina woman fined for having guest over while positive for COVID-19

Regina Police say a 42-year-old woman has been fined for having someone in her house while she was positive for COVID-19.

Officers say early in the morning on January 14th, shortly after 6:00 a.m., police received a complaint that a person at a residence on the 800 block of Elphinstone Street had a guest, or guests, at her house in spite of her COVID-19 positive diagnosis.

Officers followed the necessary protocols for their protection and the safety of others in responding to the call.

They confirmed the health status of the 42-year-old woman as well as the validity of her self isolation order.

There was another woman in the house who was asked to leave.

After further investigation, a ticket for $2,800 was issued to the 42-year-old woman.

Regina Police say this is the 11th fine they’ve had to issue for someone disregarding public health orders.

Currently households are to be limited to immediate members only.
