Regina man charged with second degree murder in deadly assault

Investigators have charged a Regina man with second degree murder in connection with the second homicide of 2021 in Regina.

39-year-old Adam R. Hook was arrested by the Regina Police Service after the death of 30-year-old Regina resident Jeffrey Gerald Lehto on Wednesday. Lehto’s family has been notified of his death.

The investigation started as an assault case on Tuesday night when police were sent to the 1700 block of Quebec Street near the Saskatchewan Drive-Arcola Avenue intersection for a report of an injured man. Upon arrival, officers and paramedics found Lehto who had suffered serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital where he passed away on Wednesday, changing the investigation into a homicide case.

Hook made his first court appearance on these charges Thursday morning.
