Regina Police treating death of assault victim as city’s second murder of the year

The death of an assault victim on Wednesday is being considered by Regina Police and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service as Regina’s second homicide of 2021.

The investigation began just before 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday night when officers were sent to the 1700 block of Quebec Street for a report of an injured man. Police and paramedics found the victim had suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital by EMS. He passed away on Wednesday morning in hospital.

According to the Regina Police Service, the victim’s family has been notified of his death. Police plan to eventually release his name publicly, but will give the family some time before doing so.
