Premier Scott Moe reacts to inauguration of President Joe Biden

Saskatchewan’s premier has given his thoughts after Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States.

Scott Moe took to social media on Wednesday and wished “success and prosperity” for the Biden administration while touching on his aspirations for the Saskatchewan-United States relationship moving forward.

“Saskatchewan will continue to advocate for our interests with the new administration, including protecting the important trade and export supply chain between our nations and strengthening North America’s energy security,” his statement continued.

“To this end, it is incredibly troubling that TC Energy has suspended work on Keystone XL in light of the pipeline’s looming cancelation by the Biden administration. Now is the time for our nations to strengthen our trading relationship, not erect further barriers to collaborative and sustainable development.”

In a statement by TC Energy, the company said Biden’s decision to suspend the Keystone XL project will result in layoffs of thousands of union workers.
