Regina Police make arrest in aggravated assault and home invasion Sunday night

A Regina man is facing charges after an alleged home invasion and aggravated assault in the city’s north central neighbourhood.

Regina Police were called to the scene Sunday night just after 8:30 where a 61-year-old man phoned police saying he was being chased by the suspect. The victim was allegedly stabbed twice while attempting to contact police.

As police arrived, the suspect was spotted just outside of the residence. Officers located a knife and a sawed-off .22 caliber firearm. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident, and the victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

35-year-old Aaron Bitternose faces four charges, including break and enter to commit an aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Bitternose appeared in court Monday afternoon.
