Regina Police say a woman taken to hospital Saturday morning has died and that they are now investigating their first homicide of the new year.

Police were called just after 8 o’clock to a home on the 700 block of Athol Street, just off of 1st Avenue in the city’s north-central area, after reports of a woman being shot.  Upon arriving, police found the woman with serious injuries. She was rushed to hospital where she died a few hours later.

The name and age of the woman is not being released at this time. Her next-of-kin has been notified.
